Born Free!

As Ryan gets older we keep discovering fun little anomalies that he has. His latest is quite funny to watch. Everytime we go to a store, he immediately rips off his hat, winter coat and sweatshirt so that he can run without anything weighing him down. It is an automatic reaction. The other day he had snow pants on and that just threw his whole routine off.

Here he is running in Lowes free from all coats, hats, etc.

He did it!!

Ryan had a great first night in his big boy bed. He has a bit of a cough, but he did really well. (Hopefully, we haven't jinxed ourselves.) Now onward and upwards. He didn't want to read in bed with Daddy - he only wanted to read in his old chair in the baby room.

Ryan's Big Boy Room

We have finally finished Ryan's Big Boy room! Ryan will likely move into his room next weekend to give lots of transition time before Meatball makes an appearance. Marc is also in the process of putting a train along the top of the room - complete with track and moving parts so the two of them can drive the train around Ryan's room.

Ryan helping with the construction:

Putting together the furniture from Ikea.

He had his hammer and screwdriver ready to go at any time.

He loved the rubber mallet so much that he slept with it in his crib for naps and bedtimes for several days.

Here is the final dresser! I am really pleased with it - we just need to figure out what to put above it. A mirror maybe?

We used what was supposed to be shower curtains (they are 100% cotton) for the curtains and Marc's mom did an amazing job sewing them for us.

Here is his big boy bed all ready to go. (We have railings that we are going to put on it when he moves into the bed.) The stripes turned out better than we expected.

The magnetic board turned out great! We did 9 coats of the paint and then framed it with trim.

Ryan really likes his Big Boy "Party" Room.

Ryan's Birthday Party

Ryan's 2nd Birthday Party was today and we had a great time. It was smaller than last year yet still seemed chaotic (but fun!)

The set up for the party. (For some reason, we had no lights on yet.)
The party boy. (It was Sesame Street/Elmo themed.)

Opening gifts
Dad was helping here.

The three of us. (And yes we are cheesy with our red shirts. :) )

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Ryan. It's like he was saying that he couldn't hear them loud enough.

Getting ready to blow out his candle.

A close up of the cake.

We made the inside rainbow coloured.

Before we baked it - it looked like this.

Happy 2nd Birthday Ryan!!!

It's hard to believe that Ryan is two today. He has grown and changed so much over the past two years and is quite an amazing little boy now. He loves life and is constantly making us laugh and smile.

Here he is wearing his birthday crown from daycare and holding his beloved Elmo balloon.
Here are some other pictures from Ryan's birthday:

We all sang "Happy Birthday" together.

Birthday Party Fun at Dylan's

We were at a birthday party yesterday for Dylan and we had a great time at the rec centre. They had a big gym and a pool that the kids could play in. Ryan spent a lot of time running.
He loved kicking a soccer ball around.
The pool had a huge water slide and a little duck slide for the kids. Ryan had a great time going down the slide.

It's crazy to see how much Ryan has grown since Ryan first went swimming.
