The scary side of parenting

Poor Ryan had a febrile seizure on Sunday and it was honestly the worst thing we have ever seen. He had a fever of 103.3 so we were on the way to the hospital when the seizure happened luckily. He was convulsing, sweating, and frothing and was completely non-responsive. :( They even called Code Blue which was totally scary. He apparently aspirated on the froth so they were worried we would have to go to Sick Kids if his breathing got worse. Thankfully that didn't happen, but we stayed overnight with him.He has an ear infection in both ears and his chest x-ray while better still shows fluid on each side. He knocked out the one IV that they were able to finally get in after 5 different tries. Two more tries later they gave up. He is also ridiculously strong - it took 4 of us to hold him down each time. He's on antibiotics now and we have to go back in a week unless he gets a fever of a 100 and then we go back to emerg.

He was in good spirits the next day- mowing down on Arrowroots when the nurse gave him some and then clutching them for dear life in fear that someone else would eat it. :) All in all it was horrible, but I am glad it is all over and that we are home. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. So we were given the advice that if you ever notice that their behaviour is off or that they are starting to get sick, give them Tylenol/Tempra to try to avoid a quick change in temperature.

Ryan on the move

Ryan really likes going up the stairs. He hasn't quite mastered coming back down yet, but he will.
If you get close to him while he is going up, he squeals with excitement and picks up speed.
He also likes to move the kitchen chairs around and peek at us around the bars.
Trying to squish through.
Playing under his high chair
He got a Thomas the Tank Engine play train that we set up the other day. Here is Marc showing him how it is done.

Dirt has some nutritional value right?

Ryan is the last kid at daycare still crawling (although he is super close to being able to walk alone.) As a result when they play outside he gets up close and personal to the ground- specifically the dirt. Now picture the fact that the nice weather is here and he is wearing suntan lotion. Yup - he is one big sticky, dirty mess by the time I pick him up in the evening. Even after washing his hands specifically, more dirt came off in the bath. He looks so proud of himself though and it is easy to see his little smile through all of the grime.

I'll try to get a picture.

It's been a long time...

I apologize for the delay in posting things about Ryan and the family. I am now back at work and Ryan has started going to daycare. He LOVES it. They call him "Mr. Happy" as he just smiles and plays with everyone and everything.

He is walking with his walker all the time now. He still won't bend his knees when he does it so he looks like Frankenstein, but he has the biggest grin on his face the whole time. He also appears to have grown a ton. When he stands up in his crib, his little head is a lot higher.

That's all for now, but I will update with pictures when I get a chance.

Here is a quick one from Grandma and Grandpa's house. Ryan was fascinated by the camera in Grandpa's computer and is therefore too busy to smile.
