Our camera has been busy.

Ryan's Aunt Marilee came to town for a visit. He is having a great time seeing her.

This is from his Emerson Aunts. I like to think it will start his hip hop career off in style.
And finally in honour of his nickname "Gus", Aunt Marilee had this onesie made for him. I love it!

Some more pics of the nursery

We have pretty much finished the nursery except for hanging the picture collage that Marc's mom gave us. We hung the bumper pads on the wall. :)

Some more pics

I realized that I didn't have very many pics of Ryan and I so I took this one today. (Well, Marc took it.) I quite like it. :)
And then this pic just makes me happy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and other pics

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Ryan also had a pin on that said "Irish Inside". Rosie O'Day, a.k.a. Nana, spoiled him with lots of festive decorations.

Marc's coworkers are amazing people!

They just sent Ryan the nicest little wagon filled with goodies. It had clothing, baby dishes, a picture frame and some books.

Look how much Ryan (and Marc) love it!

Meet Gus...the Gorilla

My parents gave Ryan a little "welcome to the world" present today - a 6 foot tall stuffed gorilla named Gus. This thing is HUGE. It was hysterical to see Gus with Ryan.

Some pics

Here is an assortment of pics:

A personal fave. :)

Welcome to the world Ryan Jack Clemente!!

The short story:
Ryan Jack Clemente entered the world on March 3, 2007 at 7:51 pm. He weighed in at 6lbs 12 oz and was 20 inches long.

The long story:
On Friday, March 2 we went in to be induced with a gel at 4:30. Nothing really happened other than a burning sensation so they sent us home. We went back in the next day (March 3) for noon and were told that we wouldn't be leaving. They did an internal exam, said my cervix was soft but no dilation yet, so they broke my water. Definitely not a comfortable feeling. They hooked me up to oxytocin which caused the contractions to start and to increase with intensity as time went on. The contractions started slowly but surely around 1:00. Not fun at all as they increased in pain and duration.

When they told me the epidural man could come by, I have never been so relieved. At that point it had been 4 hours of pain. He gave me the epi and then laughed when I asked him if he had many women name their children after him. After an hour and a half, the doctor came in and told us that the baby's heartrate was dipping with each contraction and that they were going to have to do a c-section. As in right then. Needless to say, Marc and I were caught of guard by that!

So we go into the operating rom and they give me some additional pain medication. Despite giving me only 75% of a dose, my body didn't react well to it at all (It is only supposed to freeze from your chest down, but mine froze all the way up to my throat, and I couldn't swallow-scary.) Even after Ryan was born, Marc brought him over to show me and I could barely react. It also turns out that he had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck twice which is what was causing the problems during the first part of labour.

So while the labour and birth itself was not quite what we had expected, all in all it was fine. Marc, Ryan and I are all doing really well.

Here I am at 37 weeks and 3 days. Still no baby yet, but hopefully later today. :)
